I don’t believe it! My plan worked! I am now a cat of leisure!

Kerylyn had me running around everywhere with her; doing work in various towns, hunting ogres for their silk cloth, window-shopping in the Auction House even. Well, I’m tired of all that. I’m a cat, not a dog! If you want a pet who’ll do everything he’s told without question, and pad around after you everywhere you go then get a dog! We cats are far too smart for that stuff.

Luckily for me, Kerylyn heard there was plenty of work available in Darkshire and we travelled there one morning. Horrible place! Ghosts, huge dogs, skeletons, ghouls… all sorts of nasty things live there. On one of our first hunting trips in forests around Darkshire, I stepped on a ghoul tooth and hurt my paw. Kerylyn immediately had it looked at by a priest and she was told to let me rest in the stables for a few days. Apart from the pain, lolling around in the stables was the most fun I’d had in ages! Kerylyn and my replacement, Ghost (a really serious and pretty stupid looking dog), even came and visited me every day with treats and stuff. I decided that this was it - this was my chance to become a cat of leisure! Once my paw was healed I refused to come out while she was still in Darkshire. Kerylyn’s such a big softie! She thought I was scared of the place, and just cuddled me and told me that I could stay in the stables as long as I wanted to. By the time she left Darkshire, the dumb dog had already proven what a good retriever he was, and Kerylyn was feeling guilty about wanting to keep hunting with him. So what did she do? She took me to her house in Stormwind and told me that my new job was to guard the place for her.

Pfft! Guard it? What am I? A guard dog? Stormwind is far too interesting a place for me to just stay indoors all day. There’s all sorts of things to do like chasing elves…

Gnawing on rats in alleyways…

Stealing cheese from shops…

Hiding in bushes and then jumping out and scaring people…

Jumping through magic portals and fooling around with the mage’s experiments…

Participating in debates about magic…

Catching goldfish in ponds…

And then there’s always running and jumping around the Park just because I can…

Of course, I always make sure I’m back at the house for a quick nap before Kerylyn gets home.

I don’t think I’ll ever go back to work now that she’s got that big, dumb dog to do all that running around for me. Being a cat of leisure is more fun than I could ever have imagined!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some very important napping to do.
