Well a head cold or something or other that’s made my nose block which leads to gross stuff going down the back of my throat, sore throats & a head that weighs a ton. I’ve mostly avoided the sneeziness and the coughing is mostly in check. Generally I’ve just had a few days of feeling very blah, meh and grumpy.

I have managed to acquire a new pet though who will probably replace the cat I initially trained as my DPS pet. It’s a very pretty looking Wind Serpent who in a previous life was named Arikara, who only spawns as part of a Horde quest. The first quest in the questline that leads to you summoning her so you can (what else?) kill her involves finding a strange Alien Egg which, when you give it to the Tauren in Freewind Post, starts to rattle and hatches a wind serpent which makes a beeline for a little dog and kills it before flying off into the sunset. Clearly a reference to Alien³ with the attacking the dog thing. Unfortunately in WoW the dog does not then hatch a vicious alien killing machine, but you can’t have everything I guess. Still there was an Alien reference there and since Ben had recently gotten some super boxset of all the Alien & Predator movies it was kind of fresh in my mind. So my newly tamed version of Arikara is now known as Ripley as a kind of a nod back to the Alien reference. There do seem to be many Hunter pets called Ripley, but from what I can tell most are Ravagers. In any case the name really kind of fit and she looks pretty damn cool especially when summoned. There’s a rumbling sort of sound effect and she appears in a puff of smoke. In fact I’ve noticed that it happens when when I login as well which is nice and melodramatic.

I’ll get a photo up soon and maybe a video of the effect. For now it’s back to my tissues and trying to do housework.
