World of Warcraft Stories

Links to stories I’ve written using characters I’ve played in the MMORPG World of Warcraft.

Kerylyn Sweetlips:

Kerylyn is hands down my favourite roleplay character yet. From the word go she seemed to develop a personality all her own and I had a great deal of fun with her. I’m sure a lot of people thought I was nuts when I had her roleplay along with the NPC’s (who sadly rarely talk back!) but it also meant that more people would come up and roleplay along with me since they could already see that I was up for it.

Kazum Sharpaxe:

Kazum was one of my first roleplaying characters and I didn’t really get to take him as far as I could have. He was a lot of fun though and through him I managed to draw attention to the plight of the sickly gazelles in The Barrens (you have to play the game to know what I’m talking about).

Pressa Lighthoof:

I initially created Pressa to try my hand at playing a Druid and a Tauren. I had absolutely no intention of writing any long storylines involving her but she just sort of took over. What resulted was a great deal of fun although a rather slow way of playing. Her stories were more in the Equinox the Nifty style which involves quite a lot of screenshots. The poor thing never really got very far with her story but if I ever go back to playing WoW I’d definitely pick her story up again. She’s very snarky, very money-oriented, and not even terribly nice but for some reason that just makes her so much fun to play!

Other stories:

So far I’ve only been able to salvage one of my other stories, a little introduction story about an undead character called Squishpop, but if I manage to dig up any others they’ll go in this section. Unfortunately, threads on the WoW forums are removed after a certain period of time and so a lot of little stories or posts that I didn’t save offline are gone forever.

At this point it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever go back to playing World of Warcraft. The game itself after level 60 is far too time intensive for very little fun or reward and while that doesn’t affect the roleplay itself so much, it does make it a little disheartening to put so much time and effort into a character and then have nothing much to do with them after you hit the maximum level. From what I hear it’s doubtful the expansion is going to make much of a difference with that either.

If they come up with more interesting questlines, roleplay (ie just for fun) items, and especially player housing I’d be back like a shot! Unfortunately this doesn’t look likely. Not to worry though, there are plenty of other really good MMOs on the way!
